With more than 40 years of teaching the violin and viola, I have dedicated my career to sharing a lifelong passion for music and education. My musical training began at Dartington College of Arts, where I studied on the degree course, before completing my teacher training at Rolle College in Exmouth.
Throughout my career, I have committed to inspiring and supporting young people, helping them to develop confidence, creativity and a lasting enjoyment of music. Alongside my individual and small group teaching, I have directed large string ensembles, led educational workshops and worked with students of all ages and abilities and am still working as an Upper Strings Teacher with Cornwall Music Service Trust (CMST).
My creative and successful approach to teaching was recognised publicly, including being featured on the front page of Primary Times, for the positive impact of my work with children and young people.
Now semi-retired, I am delighted to have more time to support music more widely through my role as a trustee. I am passionate about ensuring that young people have access to high-quality musical opportunities and experiences, regardless of their background or stage of development.
Away from teaching, I continue to enjoy performing and find time to play in a number of local orchestras, including the Three Spires Orchestra as well as maintaining a busy performance schedule with my professional string quartet, Classical Strings.
